Councilman Curtis Jenkins is a thirty-five year resident of the City of Camden. He is the product of the Haddon Heights and Philadelphia School systems. In March of 1976 he married his wife Ruby, of this union are four children Linette, Tosha, Janice, and Curtis Jr.

In September of 1977 Councilman Jenkins began his professional career in the Construction field as a member of Laborers' International Union Local 222. Councilman Jenkins has worked throughout the City as well as the State of New Jersey. On many projects, he has worked in leadership positions.

July 2000, Councilman Jenkins moved from working in the field as a Construction Laborer to the front office of Laborers' International Union Local 222 Camden Office to serve as Secretary-Treasurer and Business Agent. In July 2002, Councilman Jenkins was appointed Business Manager for the Union. Councilman Jenkins also holds the positions of Vice-President of Southern New Jersey Building Laborers' District Council, Vice-President of the Central Laborer AFL-CIO, and Trustee of the Southern New Jersey Building Trades Council.

In June 2005 Councilman Curtis Jenkins was elected to Camden City Council as Councilman-at-Large. That same year Councilman Jenkins formed the "Bringing Camden City Back -One Neighborhood at a Time" group made up of Local 222 members, who volunteer their time beautifying the City. The group cuts the grass, cleans up trash, and help residents keep neighborhoods clean. Councilman Jenkins authored the first legislation "Human Capital Ordinance" in the City of Camden that would give residents a say in how their community is redeveloped or developed. He continues to work with non-profits and other organizations to move residents into life changing careers.

Councilman Jenkins advocates giving back to the community and, under his leadership as the Business Manager of Laborers International Union of North America Local 222, the union has donated tens of thousands of dollars to several charities, churches and non-profit organizations that serve the youth. Some of the organizations helped by Councilman Jenkins and Local 222 are My Brother's Keeper, Camden High School, Women 2001, New Creek Civic Association, DeHugo Consistory #2, Camden Parkette Panthers, The Elks Lodge #83, LAEDA, U.S. Wiggins Elementary School, Drop Zone Recording, Camden Board of Education Foundation, Camden Rescue Mission, Inc., Fairview Main Street, Camden Housing Authority Valentine's Day Ball, Camden United, Camden Renaissance Inc., United Neighbors of Whitman Park Inc. Crescent Shrine Temple, Camden Local Organizing Committee Chelton Terrace, Wilson Tilghman Basketball Classic, Camden Day Nursery, Cramer Hill Little League, The Unity Community Center, Whitman Park Youth Football, Parada San Juan Bautista 2008, Centerville Unity Day, Toys for Tots, and the Three Kings Festival, to name just a few. Councilman Jenkins continues to move residents from unemployment rolls to careers in the Construction field. His goal is to put the City of Camden back to work.

Councilman Jenkins is a sitting Board member of the African American Caucus of Laborers International of North America, former Member of the Camden City Board of Education, and Commissioner of the Camden City Housing. He is a recipient of the Camden County Medal of freedom Medal, the George E. Norcross Humanitarian Award, Camden County Visionary Award, East NAACP Community Award, and the American Red Cross Camden County Award for Community Service.
