Emergency Repair Program

The first step in the program is to contact our office and we will gladly take some information over the phone to determine if you are eligible for the ERP. Subsidy not to exceed $4,000.00 to abate specific condition limited to one of the following conditions: Heating, Electrical, Roof, Plumbing & Sewer.

Due to the expected demand for this program and limited funding, priority will be given to senior citizens, applicants who never received prior assistance and emergencies posing an imminent hazard, i.e. broken sewer line, collapsing roof and inoperable heating system. The Division of Housing Services reserves the right to prioritize these applicants accordingly.



Eligibility Requirements
*All applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis and meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be owner-occupant of subject property for a minimum of 1 year prior to application date.

  2. All municipal obligations (taxes, water & sewer) must be current.

  3. Annual Income (adjusted for family size) must be within Section 8 Income Guidelines

  4. Necessary repairs and cost must be within program cap.
  5. All applicants between the ages of 18 to 70 will be responsible for payment of 50% of the final repair costs. Applicants between the ages of 71 to 74 will be responsible for payment of 25% of the final repair costs. Applicants over the age of 75 will not be responsiblefor any payment contingent on final repair costs not exceeding maximum grant and verification they don't have funds in their savings or checking account sufficient to cover repair costs.


Documentation
The following documentation must be submitted when completing the formal application:
  1. Property Deed

  2. Proof of recent income of all family members

  3. Most recent "1040 Income Tax Return".

  4. Copies of most recent checking and/or savings account statement.

  5. Identification (Drivers License or Government ID, ect…..)
