The Fire Marshals Office conducts an inspection on all one and two family dwelling units that are sold, leased, or changed in occupancy for residential use. This is in compliance with the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.
The following requirements shall be met:
- A smoke detector shall be installed on every level of the home including the basement.
- A carbon monoxide detector shall be installed in the common area of the bedrooms (i.e. 2nd floor hallway).
- A fire extinguisher shall be mounted in the kitchen area.
