This program helps in the reduction of gang activity and the involvement of Camden City youth in the Juvenile Justice System through the following methodology: a) conducting aggressive outreach in enrollment of potential gang members as an alternative to gang clubs. b) Assisting youth in acquiring educational skills and social strategies, which reduce negative behaviors and promote positive life styles. c) Increasing the knowledge of and access to social and health care resources for the youth and family. d) Providing a structured, positive, environment for youth as an alternative to gang activity. This program was funded by the Camden County Youth Commission for four years and unfortunately, funding ceased in 1996. However, the Office of Youth Services continues operations and currently, enrollment is three hundred youth.
