How To Become A UEZ Member

The UEZ Program fosters an economic climate to help revitalize designated urban communities and stimulate their growth by encouraging businesses to develop, grow, and create private sector jobs through public and private investment. Business incentives are provided to certified zone businesses through employment and investment tax credits, reduced sales tax collections on certain retail sales, and sale tax exemptions on qualified business purchases. Businesses who sign up for the UEZ program are eligible to receive funds for the façade program.

Before applying to become a UEZ member, check if your business falls in a UEZ zone by clicking the “UEZ Business Eligibility Locator”, found to the left on the page, and typing in the address in the search bar. If your business falls in a UEZ zone, please read and follow each step carefully in order to register your business.

Step 1: Create your NJ Premier Business Services (PBS) account.

1. Visit Premier Business Services: (https://www16.state.nj.us/NJ_PREMIER_EBIZ/jsp/home.jsp).
2. Click “New Users Only – Create an Account”.
3. On “Open an Account” page, click “Get Started”.
4. Input your information & click “continue” when done.
5. If you have an existing myNewJersey Logon ID, answer “Yes” & login.
6. Confirm & Your Account Has Been Opened!

Step 2: Add your business to your PBS account.

1. After creating your PBS account click “Add a Business”.
2. Review information & click “Get Started”.
3. Provide business Federal EIN and name, click “Continue”.
4. Read the “Agreement/Terms of Use”, select “Yes” & click “Continue”.
5. Confirm your information for the business & click “Continue”.
6. The Business Added screen will confirm your business has been added.

Step 3: Click the Urban Enterprise Zone link under Select a Service Center in PBS.

1. Click “UEZ Certification Application”
2. Fill out the requested information in each section of the form, save and continue.
3. Agree to Terms & Conditions
4. Congratulations Your Application Is Complete!
